Declares “2015 – The Year of Women in Sport!”

An invitation for Canadians to join in and declare “2015 – the Year of Women in Sport”

The Power in Sport is pleased to announce the next proclamation made by a government body to recognize 2015 as a significant year for women and sport in Canada.

Declaration “2015 – The Year of Women in Sport!” was made by The City of Saint John tonight. [Event webpage: http://thepowerinsport.com/saintjohnevent ]

“I am pleased to proclaim 2015 as the ‘Year of Women in Sport in Saint John’ and to recognize the role of sport in promoting leadership, self-esteem and active living among many girls and women in the community”,

said Mel Norton, Mayor, City of Saint John. The Mayor went on to say

“I challenge all other New Brunswick mayors to proclaim 2015- The Year of Woman in Sport.”

“We are pleased to have Saint John join North Vancouver, Surrey and Burnaby in making this declaration. We are on a roll with 4 having declared and Fredericton, Regina, Maple Ridge, and Winnipeg joining in to support”
