An amazing donor has contributed $5,000 to the Canadian Spirit in Sport Award!
We partnered a few months ago with the Canadian Olympic Foundation to establish this award.
The first award is retroactive… “(t)he “Canadian Spirit in Sport Award” will be offered to the Canadian Olympian, coach, or official participating in the 2014 Sochi Olympic Winter Games who demonstrates the true spirit of the Olympics.”
We expect to issue the award in the Fall.

Why? Why are we so enthusiastic about the Canadian Spirit in Sport Award?
Several reasons.
The first is we want to see more recognition for the true essence of sport and the positive values that sport brings us. Too often we recognize poor sportsmanship and celebrity. What about ‘doing the right thing?’ We want to see more of that in our world.
The second is the Olympic Association does *not* have an award like this and when we came to them with the idea they liked it enough to create the award.
