Reaching for the stars

Wow. I feel honoured to be writing and knowing my subscribers will read through what I’ve written. It does makes the responsibility of writing quite weighty! 🙂

26Thank you for joining. It means the world to me. The next 26 months are going to be full of growth and excitement. Why 26 months?

Well that takes us to the end of 2015 – just enough time to accomplish something meaningful and impactful in the world. But what? The ‘what’ is contained in the power in sport and will be revealed through writing and events.

Onwards.

The focus for the next few weeks is our storytelling night, Tues. Nov 19th.  This is going to be a good night with friends, beverages, and stories from a few about how sport has impacted their life in a positive way. You and your friends are all invited!

Now about Olympics and Women’s Soccer.  This is a major passion of mine. They both exemplify keys to the power in sport.  The 2014 Olympics are starting in less than 100 days and always bring great personal stories to the fore. I want to find and share these. Secondly, the Women’s Soccer (predominately the Canadian Women’s National Team) is rising to new level of international excellence. Remember the bronze at the 2012 Olympics? An amazing performance and accomplishment. I believe the Women’s Soccer team speaks to the heart of the power in sport. Their tenacity and gutsy style of play is inspiring to many of us. Moreso international calibre play will be showcased in Canada in 2015 during the FIFA Women’s World Cup of Soccer. More on that in another blog.

That’s all for today.

I’m curious as to what you think of all this and where we’re headed thus far?

To finish, here’s a favourite quote that encapsulates the beginning of this effort.

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back.

Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.

A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way.

Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”

– by William Hutchinson Murray (often wrongly attributed to Johan Wolfgang Von Goethe!)
