Leadership & Public Speaking Session – UBC Athletes – Sep 29, 2014

A cross-section of Athletes came out to a demonstration Leadership and Public Speaking Session we held within the UBC campus in Vancouver, BC. Canada. The students are from Forestry, Kinesiology, Sociology and Geography. Sports included Rowing, Swimming, Track, Baseball, and Volleyball. All spoke for a few minutes on a topic related to their life lessons from sport. Comments: “I was very happy I came….Once I was up there…my fears went away.” “…Body language, eye contact, and speech structure…3 things I need to work on!” “(What I got out it?) This past week the SPECIAL OLYMPICS CANADA 2014 SUMMER GAMES took place at UBC in Vancouver. Event recap May 20 2014

May 21 2014 Confessions…confessions…confessions. That’s what we were about Tuesday night.   Linda Diano (me) opened the night but didn’t confess too much! She set the stage and spoke about a passion for wanting to use sport as a way of improving lives and connecting communities. She referenced Nelson Mandela and his comment that ‘sport has the power to change the world.’ This is why she inviting everyone to declare 2015 The Year of Women in Sport.  Why? Feb 5, 2014 – Last night I was on the 3-person panel of a UBC-hosted event in Vancouver called ‘The Next Step.’  Click here for more.  Basically it’s series of events designed to engage UBC students and alumni with a panel of people who are in industry.
