Images from our Jan 21 night in Vancouver. A group of high quality people came out to share messages about the power in sport. We visited, ate together, wrote, drew pictures (yes!) and shared perspectives.
A few highlights…
- Ty Crews, former BC Lion, made his way to our event and shared his story about growing up in an orphanage, getting in to a little trouble, then finding sport and a life in football.
- We heard several empassioned messages about coaching men and women in sport, about our own experiences in sport – all with takeaways.
- Former SFU head coach, mastermind of a Track and Field program that went on to win 12 NAIA titles (during the ’80s & 90’s) AND an international- calibre decathlete back in the ’70s, Zenon Smiechowski, came and spoke as well about coaching men and women and his upbringing in Poland and raising his family in Canada.
- Mabel Fong, avid marathoner and half-marathoner, stood and declared that she would never give up becoming a better person.
