Good times = soccer

What do photos, video and soccer have to do with each another? Well we shot a bunch of each, that’s what! Here is our journal of our days with the Canadian National Women’s Soccer Team plus a few thoughts.

We attended the Canada – Mexico match at BC Place. The bonus? We attended two practices as our warm-up to the game. Fortunately the team worked out at BC Place and could practice on the actual game site.

Below is a journal entry of blogs.

Nov 23, 2013

We’ve been enjoying ourselves watching the intensity and focus of the National Women’s squad as they practice at BC Place these past few days. Many small focused drills were going on for players at various stages of re-integration into the main squad. It’s clear a enormous amount of thought is going into preparing Team Canada for a top performance in 2015. It is motivating to see this level of preparation a full 18 months away from the World Cup opening ceremonies in Edmonton (Gold Medal match in Vancouver, by the way).

Later we caught up with a few of the players and coach Herdman. We showed them our online Declaration (printed on paper here, even though it is available on-line too).

A few days since the strong 0-0 game played between Canada and Mexico.

Instead of focusing on the score, we focused on the amazing crowd energy. Check out this short video clip of cheering after a goal (disallowed).

With all that cheering, we concluded the level of enthusiasm for women’s soccer is only growing in Canada.

Young girls looking up to our women’s soccer team. With that kind of support on your side, you can’t help but succeed.     We noticed the many many girls in attendance, many dressed in their soccer uniforms with faces painted. Like this little girl.

We noticed how they made their impact on the National Women’s Team. Here’s a picture of captain Christine Sinclair connecting with a young fan’s hand.

Well that’s all from our time with the Canadian Women’s National Team. We trust you enjoyed our view.

To close off this note, a little clip of the Terry Fox Memorial. Always inspiring.

Hi Linda, the “young fan” with Christine Sinclair in your above photo is my daughter. Just wondering if I can somehow get a digital copy of the photo.
