From the FIFA site –
“FIFA Live Your Goals festivals, in conjunction with Canada Soccer and its provincial member associations, successfully held festivals in each of the four host cities for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014. Montreal, Quebec was the first on 12 July followed by Moncton, New Brunswick 19 July, Edmonton, Alberta on 27 July and finally Toronto, Ontario on 1 August.
Over 750 young girls between the ages of eight and 12 years old were selected by the Provincial Soccer Associations to participate in an afternoon of on field soccer skills, coordinated by the Provincial Soccer Technical Directors and Women’s Committees, responsible for the mentorship and promotion of female leaders in soccer.
Supported by parents in the stands and with beautiful weather throughout all events, these young girls experienced an afternoon that they will remember for a long time. Female players of the Women’s National Team, represented by Josee Belanger, Rhian Wilkinson, Brittany Baxter, as well as U-20 players Vanessa Gregoire, Amandine Pierre-Louis and Valerie Sanderson, were excellent role models for these young girls to be inspired to Live Their Goals through soccer.
Schueme, the mascot for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014 and FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ events, made special appearances to mingle with the spectators and participants. The FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Winner’s Trophy was also available at each event for each participant to have their photograph taken beside this prestigious trophy. Each participant received a commemorative t-shirt and soccer ball together with a certificate of participation.
In 2015 it is expected that more Live your Goals Festivals will take place in other host cities: Ottawa, Ontario; Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Vancouver, British Columbia.”
