Dr Abhijeet Barse at TEDx Nagpur: The power of play – Slum Soccer
Dr Abhijeet Barse, the CEO of Slum Soccer from Nagpur, is working with the youth of India and using football as an instrument to transform lives.
Barse has taken Slum Soccer to a whole new level, as it looks to build a pan-Indian presence with new centres while empowering and equipping more and more individuals to spread their good work.
The organisation focuses on football coaching camps, AIDS awareness, better education, health facilities and social development programmes, empowering and bringing hope into the lives of nearly 70,000 men, women and children in over 63 districts across India.
For more than a decade, Barse and Slum Soccer have reached out to the destitute, those recovering from addiction and victims of domestic abuse, transforming their lives into something positive and meaningful through football.
He strongly believes that every child should be able to play and express his or her love for sport as it is an effective tool for development.
