Our Donated Soccer Balls now in Lagos, Nigeria

The extra durable balls donated by you during the Women’s World Cup of Soccer back in June/July have arrived to young women gathered in Lagos, Nigeria.   The Youth Empowerment Foundation in Nigeria, in conjunction with our collaborator, Women Win, came together to host a Digital Storytelling (DST) Workshop. As part of this workshop, soccer balls were donated. Sarah Murray, Director of Women Win, wrote me “we conducted a storytelling training a couple weeks ago. Today is the day – Women’s World Cup of Soccer

The big day is here. The start of the Women’s World Cup. The beautiful game is here! Congrats to the 24 countries who will be inspiring a new generation to be their best. WE DECLARE “2015 THE YEAR OF WOMEN IN SPORT!” Honourable MP, Don Davies introduced Motion 599 to the Canadian Parliament “That, in the opinion of the House, the government should: (a) recognize that sport builds character, teaches skills and develops qualities including self-esteem, perseverance, teamwork, fair play, respect for others, and leadership; and (b) proclaim 2015 the Year of Women in Sport in honour of Canada hosting… Read more →

I am so proud of this PLEDGE to be shared with those who want to stand up for women who need our support.   Our Play it Forward member in India starts on Saturday very early in Vancouver’s morning.   Very delighted too with the Canadians who are organizing 100 soccer players for each of their sites. They go later in June You can play too up until Jul1st. Seizing the moment

You know those moments when you draw on what you’ve learned from sport? Like you are under pressure and opportunity presents itself, and you seize it? Do you know what I mean?   I had the opportunity to step up this weekend.   Watching master presenter Allan de la Plante and World Champion (runnerup) speaker Angela Louie both speak was inspiring. Allan has published many books and is a master pro photographer. But what really got me was he became the principal photographer at the ’76 Olympics as a relative unknown.
